Alexis (24) is a young man with mild disabilities. Intelligent, but opinionated, passive and very introverted. During an ordinary December week, he is confronted with an avalanche of surprising experiences and shocking memories – stimuli that fuel his frustrations and expand his understanding. It becomes a week of over-living, amid the dogmas of family, the pedanticism of teachers, the decadence of the disco, the stress of a relationship, the questions about his orientation – and the omnipresent shadow of the war, which still doesn’t really seem over.
The story not only reveals the development of Alexis’ self-awareness, it also paints a fascinating picture of daily life in Flanders circa 1975.
